I guys, I'm Italian ad i don't speek german.
I need to install a VW MCD radio on my new VW Polo, but I'm not able to understand the meaning of the different colored wires (in particular the orange/brown and the orange/black ones) in the car connector probably named quadlok.
The other cables are colored brown (ground), red/yellow (2 wires both with +12V) and red/black (+12V powered with the ignition key).
Could you help me?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Emanuele

Hi,
If I right understand, you have got a new Polo facelift-modell an dyou want to swap the radio. As I did this last weekend, too I know that you will have to use a Interface in order to adapt the Quadlock-Plug to the correct Plug for the navigation-system.
What kind of plug is in the MCD? ISO or Quadlock?
As the new Polo has got a CAN-Bus system to control different functions (like Ignition, GALA, etc.) with only two cables, you will have to use a special interface (you can use Blaupunkt 7607 500 500) to get all the needed signals for a correct navigation.

Yuo are right, I have a 2005 Polo Comfortline. I want to install the VW MCD navigator-radio (it was a custom option prior to restyling; I don't know if now it is the same).
The radio-nav come with a standard ISO connector, but the connector in the car is not standard (it should be a quadlock). I bought an adapter, but I have to insert pins in it cause it seems different cars have different position of pins.
In any case if I want to use all the functions I'll need to buy the interface you suggested. Did you use this interface or did you connect only few cables?
Thanks again for your help.

No, actually i used the blaupunkt interface. But you will have to install the plugs and pins with this interface, too. The complete interface consists of two parts (one is the basic adaptor which only transforms quadlock into ISO and power-supply for the antenna-amp, the second part consists of a small black box which transforms the digital signals of the CAN-Bus into analog ISO-Signals for your Navigation) which have be connected in the right order, but that's not that hard to do.
All in all it's a rather big interface with a lot of diffrent wires, but it will fit perfect and it is not that expensive (I bought it in germany and paid about 100 EUR including freight and VAT).

I'm back to ask again about radio connetions.
I checked the radio and I found two conector named CAN/L and CAN/H. Probably I don't need to buy that expensive adapter, but I don't know whic wires I have to connect (the orange/brown one should be LOW and the orange/black one should be HIGH) and If I need to connect some other wires (in addition to mass and +12V wires).
