Hi Guys ( and girls of course)

Since the guys at T5 board just laughs at my RCD 200 i take my question here instead:

Just took delivery of my new company van: a LWB VW Transporter equiped with a VW RCD200 OEM single CD unit ( same as in Fox,Polo, golf etc etc) and it come in 2 verisons: RCD2000 and RCD200MP3 and you might be able to guess what kind my boss got me??? yepp the RCD200 BUT i do belive its only a "software lock" in it since the only diffrence is the functiocn of two buttons ( "scan" also double as "scroll folders") and when i insert a MP3 cd it doesnt say "CD-error" it recoginzie what it is and say "CD-ROM" and rejects it..

Any clues on how to get it unlocked, maybe like you do with you DVD player to make it region free??

As far as I know there is a difference with the firmware. I don't think you can easily change that to make the rcd play mp3-discs...

Technically you'll have to switch the firmware and get the one from the mp3-version for sure.. Then Region-free-hack won't work because VW would have had to implement this and I think they aren't that stupid to give us a chance to easily hack the lower-budget-version ;-)

The car makers in Dingolfing does solve it that simple: a CD with some files and hey presto now you have an MP3 playing CD player... ( or improved Navi with coulour etc etc) ;-)
