Idle problem

Hello Everyone,

The other day my Polo (1.6 Petrol Engine 8v) just stopped at idle??? than it turned on normal after???? is that ok what could be the cause for that; also my RPM Meter is not stable it moves up and down very little should it be stable??? what are the causes any help is appreciated.

Your Engine stopped suddenly at idle and started self on again?

That sounds very strange.

I've got the 1.6L 16V Engine and my RPM-Meter isnt stable, too.
A Collegue has the 1.4L 16V Engine and his RPM-Meter is stable.
I'm seeking the "error", but until yet I wasn't successful.
Maybe your Throttle Valve is too dirty. You can clean it very easily.
You can find an instruction to clean it here
It's in German, but maybe you can translate it into your own language.

An other typical error of the Polo-engines are one or more defective ignition coils.
Sometimes you will find in the error memory of your car an entry with e.g. "lapse at cylinder XYZ"
It could be an indication for a defective ignition coil.
